"A Visual Korero Through Oracle and Ancestry" - The NIU series emerged from the creation of the NIU Maori Oracle Cards, launched in 2018. Originally conceived as a divinatory tool grounded in te ao Maori, these artworks carried symbolic forms and ancestral wisdom — each image a portal into wairua, whakapapa, and the rhythms of the natural world.

From this collection, the visual language of NIU took on a life of its own. What began as a spiritual offering evolved into a full body of work — a contemporary visual korero that bridges the seen and unseen, the old and the new. Each piece is imbued with layers of meaning drawn from Maori cosmology, nga Atua, and collective memory.
